The custom insoles are the MOST IMPORTANT aspect.

The custom shoes just form the apex
of that golden pyramid.

FAQs.

  • As all Mik.Fit custom road, TT & Track cycling shoes have the Mik.Fit insoles incorporated directly into each shoe’s base, the first step is always getting fitted for these first. As such, custom shoes are only available to existing/current Mik.Fit clients. This is regardless of your skill, fame and achievements to date.

For the time being due to commitments, Mik.Fit is prioritising the custom shoe manufacture to current professionals on the road and the track. If this is you or you, please contact Mik.Fit if you would like to discuss this further.

  • Everyone benefits from having something in their shoes that is an improvement on the shoe’s original insole. The better than something is and the more it tailors to suit your biomechanical requirements, the more that translates into drive, power, stability, connectivity and being pain-free.

Whilst Mick works with various Olympic and World Tour athletes and teams, there will always be more non-professional cyclists out there that want to get the most out of their cycling experience. Everyone's goals are different but everyone deserves the same service and the same products that the best cyclists in the world are using.

  • Whilst the physical product itself will probably outlast us all, our body's biomechanics however evolve as we all age and it's wise to update the orthotic insoles after 3-4 years.

If you’re a pro or you’re riding thousands of kilometers each year then you might benefit from getting them checked out and potentially a refurbished every other year.

  • Yes, they are inter-changable. They will be however, cut specifically to fit the most appropriate fitting shoe for each client.

Part of the Mik.Fit process is to ensure each client is also wearing the most appropriate shoes for their specific foot types.

Remember, it doesn’t matter how good these cycling insoles might be, if the shoe fits the individual like a square peg fitting into a round hole, it will never work as they intended. The better the shoe fit, the greater the success of Mik.Fit’s cycling orthotics.

  • We have your foot on file for 5 months and it’s very easy to create duplicates within this time frame. After that, we will require your insoles to make a duplicate.

  • No. Come with your current shoes and I can advise you on several options that are the most suitable for you specific width, depth & last before buying them.

  • The what, when, where and how.

Subjective assessment is critical to understanding the client’s goals and how to achieve them.

  • Are the current shoes helping or hindering?

Checking the cleat’s alignment & whether the shoe has the ideal width, length, depth and last to match to your foot types.

  • Why is it happening & how to acheive it.

Specific tests to determine how the body is currently function and what to do in order to acheive the client’s goals.

  • The most important aspect of the assessment.

Regardless of the data collected, correct positioning of the foot during the molding process is vital to achieving successful outcomes from the orthotics.

The Insole Process.

The Initial Appointment

45 minute initial session addresses the client’s needs, allows time for the necessary objective testings and a foot mould will be taken that matches each cyclist’s needs.

All clients are advised to bring shorts, their current cycling shoes and any insoles they are currently using.

The Fitting Appointment

60 minute session is to fit the customised foot orthotics to the each rider. All of the insoles need to be “balanced off” before leaving the session.

Clients are recommended to bring their own bike to the appointment so minimise variables.

  • Checking the fit.

Weight-bearing assessment of the orthotic’s arch contours, heel cup heights & unique support networks specific to the client’s needs.

  • Every shoe is different.

The orthotics are interchangable but they are fitted speifically to the client’s primary shoes.

  • Things can move over time.

The cleat’s alignment is checked to ensure no unwanted variables are added to the equation.

  • “Balancing” or finishing off of the orthotics.

On-bike testing of the orthotics to achieve the overall desired fit of the orthotics.
